Medical device industry: In 2007 China's medical equipment market was estimated at about $3.7 billion. The annual growth is expected to be between 12 and 15 %. In 2007, China imported $1.9 billion in medical devices, from which $580 million came from the US, $350 million from Germany, and $330 million from Japan. These three countries account for about 65 % of the total imports. There is a small scale of locally-owned high-tech medical equipment manufacturers. There are many multinational companies that have their manufacturing facilities located in China. Opportunities: computed radiography, X-ray systems, MRI, diagnostic devices for cardio-pulmonary disease, gynecological devices, medical devices for care and rehabilitation (one of the fastest growing market).
